Best Free Queue Management Systems for Small Businesses in Singapore

The Sedia team · · 8 min read

A small-business team managing a short digital queue at a neighbourhood service counter

A free queue system can be enough for a new salon in Tampines, a quiet restaurant in Tiong Bahru or a small service counter testing digital tickets. The difficulty is that suppliers set different limits: Waitwhile counts visits, TablesReady counts parties and messages, and NextMe limits SMS and users.

The short answer: these plans are not directly comparable. Sedia's planned Free tier counts visits; Waitwhile and Carbonara also set activity limits; TablesReady limits parties and messages; NextMe limits SMS and users; and Waitlist Me offers a basic list without notifications. The useful question is which limit your business will reach first.

Competitor details below are as listed on their websites in October 2026. Free plans and message availability can change, so check the supplier's page and test delivery to a Singapore number before using one during a live shift.

Which queue management systems actually have a free plan?

This table includes ongoing $0 plans, not a time-limited trial. Limits are not directly comparable: one supplier counts visits, another counts parties, and another limits only messages.

System Free allowance What the free plan includes Important things left out Best fit
Sedia (pre-launch) 300 visits/month, 2 resources QR and kiosk joining, TV display, web push and email, basic join form, priority customers, 7 days of analytics Appointments, wait estimates, long-wait alerts, widgets, multiple languages, exports and integrations A Singapore SME that wants a queue first and can wait for launch
Waitwhile 1 location, 50 visits/month Waitlist, bookings, kiosk, TV display, basic branding and single-location statistics More visits, synchronising bookings with the waitlist, advanced reporting and SMS to Singapore on Free A very low-volume service testing queues and bookings
TablesReady Up to 2 locations; each gets 100 parties and 15 international messages/month Digital waitlist, self-check-in, custom notifications, website embed and live device sync Two-way texting, predicted waits, detailed analytics and online bookings A restaurant or service counter that needs self-check-in and only a few alerts
NextMe 1 user, 100 SMS/month Waitlist management, predictive waits, real-time updates, guest loyalty tracking, custom fields and queues, public display, data anonymisation and listed WhatsApp notifications Self-check-in, virtual waiting room, team management, analytics, exports and white-label branding One staff member running a light, staff-managed queue
Carbonara 50 bookings per 30 days Restaurant waitlist and reservations, with the Free plan including its Starter features SMS and WhatsApp are charged by usage; higher allowances and more advanced waitlist features require paid plans A small restaurant managing both walk-ins and reservations
Waitlist Me No public volume cap stated for Free Basic guest list and same-day reservations Customer notifications and most customisation A counter that wants a digital replacement for paper, not a remote-waiting service

Which free queue system is best for a small Singapore business?

Sedia: a planned queue-first option for Singapore SMEs

Sedia's planned Free plan covers 300 visits a month and two resources, such as counters, tables, staff or rooms. It includes QR or kiosk joining, a TV display, web push and email, priority handling and seven days of analytics. The full breakdown is on the Sedia pricing page.

The main omissions are appointments, wait estimates, long-wait alerts, embeddable website widgets, multi-stage visits, exports and integrations. Customer screens are English-only on Free, and WhatsApp or SMS is a credit add-on. These differences are set out in the pricing table.

Sedia is pre-launch, so treat this as planned pricing rather than an available service. Businesses can register their interest.

Waitwhile: best for testing queues and appointments at very low volume

Waitwhile's permanent Free plan allows one location and 50 visits a month. Its pricing page lists a waitlist, bookings, kiosk, TV display, basic branding and single-location statistics. Cancelled, no-show and deleted registrations still count as visits, according to its plan guide.

At the limit, Waitwhile says you can still access the waitlist but cannot add guests until the next billing cycle unless you upgrade. Its SMS table marks Singapore as Enterprise only, so Free-plan SMS is not an option for a Singapore business.

TablesReady: best for self-check-in with a small message allowance

TablesReady's international Free plan allows up to two locations. Each gets up to 100 parties and 15 messages a month. It includes a digital waitlist, self-check-in, customisable notifications, a website embed and real-time syncing.

The 15-message allowance may cover a quiet pilot, but not every party in a 100-party month. On the international pricing table, predicted waits, detailed analytics, two-way SMS and basic reservations start on Starter; online bookings and table management sit on Business.

NextMe: best for one operator managing a light queue

NextMe lists 100 monthly SMS and one user on Free. The plan includes waitlist management, predictive wait times, real-time updates, cross-device syncing, guest loyalty tracking, custom fields and queues, a public waitlist display, data anonymisation and WhatsApp notifications (NextMe pricing).

Self-check-in, the customer-facing virtual waiting room and team management begin on Starter. Free therefore suits a queue where one staff member adds customers. The pricing page gives no Singapore-specific delivery details, so test SMS and WhatsApp before relying on either.

Carbonara: best for a low-volume restaurant waitlist

Carbonara is built for restaurants. Its Free plan covers 50 bookings in each continuous 30-day period, where a booking can be a reservation, waitlist party or call-ahead group. It includes the Starter features, including a waitlist and reservations (Carbonara pricing).

Two-way SMS and WhatsApp are charged by usage. The cap counts reservations, waitlist parties and call-ahead groups together.

Waitlist Me: best for replacing a paper list

Waitlist Me's free version lets staff add guests and manage same-day reservations. The vendor is clear that Free has no customer notifications and that most customisation is unavailable (Waitlist Me Free).

That limitation changes the job it does. It can organise the staff list, but it cannot tell a customer in another shop that their turn is close. Choose it when the queue stays within sight and staff mainly need something cleaner than paper.

What do free queue plans usually leave out?

Enough capacity for a normal month

Count a real month before choosing. A barber serving 12 walk-ins on six days each week would record about 288 visits in four weeks; that is illustrative arithmetic, not an industry benchmark.

Also check what counts. For example, Waitwhile counts cancelled and no-show registrations, while Carbonara counts a party as one booking regardless of the number of diners.

Reliable customer messaging in Singapore

Messages can be counted separately from visits. TablesReady pauses texting at the monthly limit, while Carbonara charges two-way SMS and WhatsApp by usage. Confirm the channel, sender, Singapore delivery, message count and what happens at the limit. Web push, email or a TV display may be adequate if customers remain nearby.

Bookings joined to the live queue

A free plan may offer a waitlist and a calendar without putting checked-in appointments into the same serving order as walk-ins. If your clinic or salon uses both, test an early arrival, a late arrival and a walk-in during the same session. Our guide to what a queue management system does explains the difference.

Analytics, exports and longer history

Check the supplier's feature table for reporting limits. For example, NextMe places analytics and reporting on Business, while Sedia's planned Free tier includes seven days of analytics. Decide whether you only need today's list or evidence about busy periods and service time.

Branding, integrations and support

Check whether the plan includes the branding, integrations and support you need. They matter more when the queue becomes part of daily operations.

Is a free trial the same as a free plan?

No. A trial expires; a free plan remains at $0 while you stay within its limits. As listed in October 2026, WaitQ offers a 7-day trial, Qwaiting and Qminder offer 14-day trials, and Skiplino offers a 7-day trial. Their paid plans may suit operations that need more capacity or enterprise features, but they are not ongoing free queue systems, so they are outside the main table.

A small-business team testing phone joining, a waiting bench and the staff queue during a live shift

How should you test a free queue system?

Use one normal shift, not only an empty-room setup.

  1. Add customers by every route you intend to offer: staff, QR code, link or kiosk.
  2. Check what the customer sees while waiting and whether a Singapore phone receives each message.
  3. Have two staff members call, defer and complete customers if the free tier permits both logins.
  4. Add a booking and a walk-in together if you need both.
  5. Reach the plan limit safely in a test account and confirm what stops working.
  6. Export or delete test records and check who can still see them.

Queue records can contain names, phone numbers and visit details. The PDPC says organisations must protect personal data, stop retaining it when its purpose is no longer served and ensure comparable protection when it is transferred overseas (PDPC key-concepts guidelines). Free software does not remove those responsibilities. Our queue-system PDPA guide gives a practical checklist.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best completely free queue system in Singapore?

There is no single best option because the suppliers limit different things. Sedia is pre-launch; TablesReady includes self-check-in; Waitwhile includes queues and bookings at low volume; NextMe includes 100 SMS for one user; Carbonara is designed for restaurants; and Waitlist Me provides a basic staff list without notifications.

Can a free queue system send WhatsApp messages in Singapore?

Sometimes, but do not assume that a listed WhatsApp feature includes a useful Singapore allowance. NextMe lists WhatsApp notifications on Free, Carbonara charges messaging by usage, TablesReady includes 15 international messages per location, and Sedia plans a credit add-on. Test a real Singapore number before launch.

What happens when a free plan reaches its limit?

It varies. Waitwhile blocks new joins until the next billing cycle or an upgrade, while TablesReady pauses texting at the message limit. Read the supplier's current terms and test the limit without customers waiting.

Is free queue software suitable for a clinic?

It can be suitable for a low-volume pilot. Before live patient use, check bookings and walk-ins, priority handling, staff access, what appears on public displays, retention, deletion and any clinic-system integration you require.

Sedia's planned Free plan is for small Singapore operations that want to begin with a straightforward queue and upgrade when bookings, wait estimates or deeper reporting become necessary. Sedia is not open for sign-up yet; you can register your interest.
