Sedia vs WaitQ: Which Queue Management System Is Right for You?
The Sedia team · · 9 min read

Sedia and WaitQ cover much of the same ground: digital queues, appointments, phone-based joining, customer notifications and a live view for staff. The important differences appear when you look at visit limits, restaurant tools, Singapore requirements and whether you need a system now.
The short answer: WaitQ is the safer choice if you need a working system today, expect high customer volume or want restaurant floor-plan tools. Sedia may be the better fit after launch if you want a permanent free plan, customer screens in English, Chinese, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil, Singapore hosting or more structured clinic and service-centre flows. Sedia is still pre-launch, so it should not be treated as a proven production alternative yet.
WaitQ details below are as listed on its website in October 2026. Prices and features can change, so confirm the current plan and checkout amount before buying.
How do Sedia and WaitQ compare at a glance?
WaitQ facts in this table come from its product overview, pricing page and linked industry pages.
This is not a scorecard. Some rows depend on the plan, and the same feature name can hide different workflows. Test the actual Saturday queue, clinic session or dinner service you need to run.
What does WaitQ include?
WaitQ is a browser-based queue and appointment system. Customers can join through a branded page, QR code or kiosk without downloading an app. Staff see walk-ins and bookings in one dashboard, and customers can follow their position and estimated wait from a phone or public display (WaitQ overview).
Its notification page lists push notifications, SMS, WhatsApp and email. Customers choose among the channels the business enables, and booking messages can include confirmations, reminders and rescheduling updates (WaitQ notifications).
WaitQ's appointment tools let a business set booking hours, capacity, service duration and how far ahead customers can book. A customer can book without an account, while staff track upcoming, arrived, completed, cancelled and no-show states in the same system (WaitQ appointments).
The published industry range is broad. WaitQ has pages for restaurants, barbershops, salons, hotels, clinics, retail businesses and events (WaitQ overview). Its clinic page specifically mentions GP practices, physiotherapy, vaccination, sexual-health and optometry clinics, as well as veterinary clinics (WaitQ for clinics).
What will Sedia include?
Sedia is designed for Singapore businesses that run walk-ins, bookings or both. Customers will be able to join by QR code, link or kiosk, follow a live ticket and receive an alert when their turn is close. Booked customers will check in to the same serving line as walk-ins rather than leaving staff to reconcile two lists.
Its planned features include a TV display, custom join forms, wait and service analytics, priority handling, resource matching and customer screens in English, Chinese, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil. Wait estimates will be shown as a range on the customer's phone, worked out from the business's own past service times and updated through the day. They should improve as more history builds up.
Sedia also publishes controls aimed at clinics and service operations. Pro adds multi-stage visits, such as registration, doctor, pharmacy and payment, while all plans include priority handling for seniors, expectant mothers and people with disabilities. Businesses can choose how long identifiable customer data is kept, up to 15 days. Sedia says the service will be hosted in Singapore and keeps NRIC collection off by default.
These are planned features, not evidence from a live deployment. If you have a fixed opening date, that distinction matters more than a favourable feature comparison.
How does Sedia pricing compare with WaitQ?
WaitQ charges by plan rather than customer volume. Its pricing page lists unlimited waitlist visits and bookings on Starter, Grow and Business. Starter is S$36 a month when billed annually and includes one location, five staff accounts, 100 monthly SMS or WhatsApp credits and 30 days of analytics. Grow includes two locations, 20 staff accounts, 400 message credits, 60 days of analytics, guest lists and floor plans. Business includes five locations, unlimited staff, 1,000 message credits, 90 days of analytics and priority support.
Sedia's planned pricing starts with a permanent Free plan: 300 visits a month and two resources, with QR and kiosk joining, a TV display, web push, email and seven days of analytics. Essentials is S$39 monthly or S$32 a month on annual billing for 1,500 visits and ten resources. It adds appointments, wait estimates, branding, four customer languages, 90 days of analytics and website widgets.
That makes the entry comparison quite specific. Sedia Essentials is slightly cheaper on published annual pricing, but it has a 1,500-visit allowance. WaitQ Starter costs slightly more but includes unlimited visits. A quiet salon may care more about the lower price; a busy restaurant may care much more about unlimited visits.

Sedia adds extra visits in blocks of 2,000 for S$60 on paid plans. WaitQ says it has no per-customer fees or visit overages. Messaging is limited separately on both systems: WaitQ includes a set number of SMS or WhatsApp credits by plan, while Sedia plans prepaid packs in which WhatsApp and SMS consume credits.
When is WaitQ the better fit?
You need to go live now
WaitQ is available with a seven-day trial. Sedia is not open for sign-up. If a new outlet opens next month, a planned feature list does not replace a system your team can test this week.
Your visit volume is high or unpredictable
Unlimited visits make WaitQ easier to budget when a restaurant, retail counter or event can swing from quiet days to sudden peaks. Sedia's allowances are clear, but a high-volume operation must include visit blocks or a higher plan in its calculation.
Your restaurant needs a floor plan
WaitQ's floor-plan tools show table status, match parties to table capacity, combine tables and place waitlist or booked guests onto the floor. Floor plans are listed on Grow and Business (WaitQ table management). Sedia's restaurant page describes party-size matching and one list for reservations and walk-ins, but does not publish a visual floor-plan feature.

You run hotels, events or guest lists
WaitQ explicitly targets hotels and events, offers a one-off event pass, and includes unlimited guest lists on Grow and Business. Sedia's published solutions do not currently cover those uses.
When could Sedia be the better fit?
You want to start on a permanent free plan
WaitQ's pricing page offers a seven-day trial, not an ongoing free tier. Sedia plans 300 visits a month on Free. That can suit a pop-up or a small service counter testing a digital queue, provided you can wait for launch.
Your clinic has several service stages
Sedia Pro's published multi-stage flow moves one visit through registration, doctor, pharmacy and payment. It also combines booked patients and walk-ins, supports priority customers and publishes a specific retention control for customer data. See the full clinic queue checklist before comparing a normal morning session in both products.
Singapore-specific requirements are central
Sedia explicitly commits to Singapore hosting and customer screens in English, Chinese, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil from Essentials. It also states that NRIC collection is off by default. WaitQ lists multi-language support, while its security page says its application and database are hosted in US East. Ask WaitQ which languages are available and check its data location and retention terms against your requirements.
You need operating controls beyond a basic waitlist
Sedia publishes GPS auto-defer on Pro, long-wait alerts, customer ratings, automatic or suggested resource allocation and multi-stage visits. These may matter more to a clinic or service centre than WaitQ's guest-list and table tools.
Which system should you choose?
Choose WaitQ if unlimited visits, immediate availability, restaurant floor plans, hotels or events are central to your decision. Choose Sedia only if its planned Singapore-specific controls and plan structure fit better, and your timetable allows you to wait for launch.
Before deciding, run the same test in each available system: one QR join, one kiosk join, one booking, one late arrival, one no-show and one busy period with two staff members serving. Confirm what the customer sees, which messages reach a Singapore number, how bookings enter the live queue and what happens when a plan limit is reached.
Frequently asked questions
Is WaitQ cheaper than Sedia?
Not at the published entry level. Sedia Essentials is planned at S$32 a month on annual billing, while WaitQ Starter is S$36 a month annually. WaitQ includes unlimited visits, however, while Sedia Essentials includes 1,500 a month. Compare total volume and messaging, not only the headline subscription.
Does WaitQ have a free plan?
No ongoing free plan is listed on WaitQ's pricing page, which offers a seven-day free trial. Sedia plans a permanent Free plan for 300 visits a month, but Sedia has not launched.
Can both systems manage appointments and walk-ins together?
Yes, according to their published feature pages. WaitQ shows both in one dashboard. Sedia plans to check booked customers into the same serving line as walk-ins from Essentials.
Which is better for restaurants?
WaitQ's Grow and Business plans include floor plans and table management. Sedia may suit a simpler walk-in waitlist that matches parties by size, but it is pre-launch and does not publish a floor-plan tool.
Which is better for a Singapore clinic?
Sedia publishes more Singapore-specific clinic controls, including four customer languages, priority handling, multi-stage visits and Singapore hosting. WaitQ is available now, supports clinic queues and appointments, can hide patient names from public displays and has unlimited visits. Test both against your actual registration and consultation flow when Sedia becomes available.
Sedia is still being prepared for launch. If its Singapore-focused queue and booking model fits your operation, you can register your interest.
